FX Workshop (The Snowman)

This Yuletide, be utterly charmed by this unique live score to the 1982 animation of Raymond Briggs’ Snowman featuring contributions from your good elves…I mean selves!

At a host of cinemas, arts and pop-up community venues, The Cabinet of Living Cinema bring you their unique score to this magical animation with your help!

We start with a mince pie (of course) before the rehearsal with renowned live cinema performers – Cabinet of Living Cinema – on harp, piano, guitar, viola and lots of live FX which audience members of all ages will be encouraged to experiment with – snow steps, an owl, a toothbrush, a tearaway motorbike amongst a host of sound effects to create in the 26-minute performance itself. And don’t forget to brush down your vocal chords for the magical Walking in the Air chorus.

The Snowman Lockdown Broadcast (2020)

During lockdown (Dec, 2020), we performed the Snowman Live Score for the first time as a lockdown broadcast from our very own home studio to families around the country to raise money for a local primary school, and with help from a couple of little elves used a variety of home-made sound FX and instruments including an ocean drum, bubble wrap, shells, harp, viola, guitar and hand percussion to create a magical score to this very special animation. Please enjoy the following excerpt from the broadcast here:
